Misa Hylton Fashion Academy & Eagle Academy

4.19.23

In April, we hosted two groups at once; The Misa Hylton Fashion Academy and Eagle Academy of Southeast Queens.

The Misa Hylton Fashion Academy gives students a chance to break into the fashion industry and tackle the unique challenges that Black and LatinX inner-city youth face. Whether you’re into fashion design, styling, the business side of things, or social media, this program is designed to help students thrive in all aspects of fashion.

Eagle Academy for Young Men was established in 2004, by the 100 Black Men of America Organization. It is a unique all-boys public school that serves young men of color from challenged, urban communities. The Kinnect Foundation has partnered with Eagle Academy since 2021 through the Kinnect Scholars program, but took advantage of the opportunity to impact more of their students through our Behind the Seams program. Students engaged in conversations with industry leaders and were able to gain knowledge and advice from professionals within the industry. It was our pleasure to be able to positively impact these students, and encourage them to continue pursuing their dreams in fashion.
