This Earth Day, Kinnect gave the observance a global stage, leveraging our teams around the world to activate around one shared idea: giving things a second life.
With support from North Face each of our markets brought the theme to life in ways that reflected their local communities, from upcycling and restoration to community cleanups and creative reuse.
Here’s what each of our communities did:
Paris & London: Our teams in Europe focused on craftsmanship. Paris transformed discarded containers into vibrant office greenery, while London hosted a sewing workshop to turn old textiles into custom tote bags.
New York & Hawaii: Rooted in restoration, our New York team worked with local nonprofit, Harlem Grown, on composting and planting, while our Hawaii team provided vital clean-up relief at Ka Ko'o 'O'iw to restore Taro patches following heavy rains.
Tokyo & Seoul: In Japan, the team partnered with amiaz Co., Ltd to study industrial recycling before hosting an upcycling workshop to create clothing hangers made from discarded clothing. In Seoul, the team used coffee grounds from Sadelle's and Kith Treats to fertilize rosemary plants that will eventually make their way back onto our menus.
California & Chicago: Creative reuse took center stage as our California teams worked with New Designs Charter School students on airbrushing old shirts and upcycling water bottles to create flowerpots. In Chicago, the team joined a local business, Semillas, to learn the artof repurposing flowers to create dried floral bouquets.
Miami, Toronto & Dallas: Our Miami teams partnered with the organization Volunteer Clean Up, to remove and repurpose beach debris. Our Toronto staff collected and refurbished footwear for the Kickback Foundation and our Dallas team focused on the future.
