This summer, we hosted our 2nd Annual Community Read-A-Loud Series at Kith Kids in Brooklyn, bringing families together with authors for live readings and activities.
The series kicked off with SNL star Kenan Thompson and his book Unfunny Bunny. The story explores friendship, resilience, and navigating the first day of
school. Families received signed books and enjoyed Kith Treats and a carousel
ride.
For our second Read-A-Loud, authors Steven and Jeanelle Teves shared Rover Starts Over, a story about embracing change, navigating new beginnings, and
finding a sense of belonging. Children also took home an activity inspired by
the book.
Later in the summer, Steve Clair joined us to share books from his G.O.A.T. series.
Through sports, the stories introduces young readers to themes of perseverance and confidence.
We closed out the summer bringing families together for the final reading of the season with Khadeidra Le Gendre, author of A Twin Like You, a book that
celebrates the uniqueness and individuality of twins. At Kinnect Foundation, we believe access to books, new experiences, and positive role models can expand what young people see as possible. The Community Read-A-Loud Series gives children the opportunity to meet authors and discover new stories. By hosting the series at Kith Kids DUMBO, we’re also using our spaces to connect with the communities around us and create meaningful experiences for families.
